I'm afraid—
that look,
the way you look at her
as if your entire universe
indwells in her;
as if she is the last drop of water
in the desert that resides
inside your ribcage;
as if she is the only ray
that can illuminate
pitch black corners of your mind.
And I–
I'm an endless abyss,
not the one to be admired,
not the one to be desired.
I'm a dark shadow, taking refuge
in the corners of your mind,
of your heart.
And I'm afraid that
if she shines too brightly
my existence might cease
within you.
