White ଜାଣେନା, ମଣିଷ ହେଵାକୁ
କେତେ ଜନ୍ମ ଲାଗେ ।
ଜାଣିଲେ ଅନ୍ତତଃ ମଣିଷଟେ
ହେବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରନ୍ତି।
ମୋ ଚଉହଦୀର ତଥାକଥିତ
ମଣିଷମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ
ସମ ଚେହେରା ଓ ସମ ଭାବନା
ସମ ଆଵେଗ , ସମ ଦର୍ଶନ
ବି ଆଵିଷ୍କାର କରେ ।
ଅନ୍ଯମାନଙ୍କ ସଫଳତାରେ
ସାମିଲ୍ ହେଵାକୁ
କେତେ ଵର୍ଷ ଲାଗିବ ବି ଜାଣେନା ।
ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସୁଖଦୁଃଖର ସହଭାଗୀ
ହେବା ବି ଜାଣିନି,
ମୋ ସମଵେଦନା ଜଣାଇବା ସମୟ
ଵି ଅଜଣା ମତେ, ମୋ ମାନଙ୍କୁ।

THE WISEST FOOL
I know not
How many births
I am to take to become a man.
I know not
Ever I will be able to realise
Men to my left, to my right
Behind my back and standing in front
Are like me having feelings and emotions
Enjoying and enduring moments
As and when they come.
I know not
How many years I will take
To enjoy other's success
To be with them
In their moments of sorrow and happiness.
I know not
Whether my love, sympathy and concern
Are genuine or lip services
Whether my smile is as true as my tears
Whether I am true to my words and gestures
Whether I am the same in thought, words and deeds.
Or completely different from
What I pose to be
I know not
When I will realise
Others are no different
Subject to the same pleasure and pain
Like me, they feel very bad
When they are hurt
Like me, they smile and cry
Shed tears in silence
Like me, they go through phases of
Pangs of sorrow, agony and distress
How do I wish them to endure things
Which I do not want for myself?
Is it because of these
I am the best creation of the Almighty?
I do not know how to share
Sorrow and happiness
Fortune and misfortune
Poverty and affluence
I want everything for myself
Depriving others their bare minimum
I live for myself and hope
Others also to live for myself
That is why
I am the most civilised and knowledgeable
The wisest fool around.
