How I surrendered everything I loved and relished My freedom, love and passion For a handful of the sky over And a little earth to stand on A caged bird I am Forgotten long since How to fly in the open sky. Hope to muster enough strength To ward off the initial onslaught Gather me, my tired wings and mind To venture into the forgotten domain The unapproachable splendour of the empyrean Once a winged bird Do not remember When I last flew into the blue heaven. Hope! It is a bondage Too demanding and complicated For love to find its space It struggles to withstand The summer heat and winter rain After thousands of compromises Adjustments, permutations and combinations One never remains oneself And love loses its beauty and grace Living a while, dying most of the time One becomes a machine Enduring a patterned relationship Patterned behaviour, Permanent expectations all the while What remains is not love Something else Love dies silently Once the free birds in the blue sky Languish in a golden cage. Very few understand the meaning of love Love is too delicate to bear A demanding relationship It will wilt and fade away My love!
