I know what it means Walking alone on the thorny path of life I know what it means Moving away from you Knowingly or unknowingly In pursuit of an identity Which is not you I know How it feels When ego comes in between You and me When I feel On my own, I can make it And swim across the whirlpool of life I know How painful it is When I conceive me, My identity, happiness and sorrow As distinct and different from you How foolish it is To think that I am somebody Around which thousands revolve I am the maker of my destiny And all that I see Maa,! When I go away from you To work out the arithmetic of life I fall prey to miseries, tensions and anxieties I know it but commit the same mistake time and again My ego never leaves me It comes in different guises And when it comes You go away leaving me alone In a pool of mundane desire and sorrow Unless you wish My ego will never dissolve I can not get over traces of ego That plays havoc with me Maa! don't add to my ego And run away from me Let my ego melt and the ocean of bliss emerge The prodigal son is at your feet Bless me!
