We become different souls in sadness. When the pain hits us, we change. We become too delicate, too weak. And it all happens all of a sudden, without any warning. You just keep sinking into that dark lake. And before you know it, you are too deep and too tangled to even ask for help. Silently, you accept the sadness as the new normal. You are too tired to find a solution. And you are sick of people not understanding what exactly is bothering you. So the pain becomes private, too intimate. Only you feel it, in every inch of your skin. But to others, you stay a smiling picture. You start living two lives. The happy and funny you, that you pretend so that the world can leave you alone. And the real you, that you hide from others so that you can mourn your loss in solitude. It’s not all for bad, to be honest. Sadness makes you realize the depth within your soul. It makes you feel things deeply. It makes you dig deep down to your fears, scars, and emotions. It makes you aware of your own broken parts. In a way, sadness teaches you what happiness is all about.
