White Failed to Impress I wanted to impress you, Tried a few times, but never knew, I would fail each time and rue. You may not believe’t, but ’tis true. Every time I tried, deterrents came. My love for you, I couldn’t claim. I am irresolute if all my attempts were lame, And impressing you was ne’er my game. Once I saw you at a lonely place. I tried to reach you, and embrace; But I fell flat, couldn’t take my pace. ’Twas dumb of me to think I’d succeed apace. Then, one day, you suddenly showed up on my way; I looked at you with glee, and whispered a “hey!” Thought I almost made’t, you’d hold’nd take me away. I failed again, you didn’t accept me; left me in dismay. I failed to impress you, dear Death! I felt almost accepted when my health deteriorated, And I was lying in a hospital bed; I was waiting and wanting to be dead. But you didn't let it betide, Just came to make your visit and deride.
