My greatest friend
Many years ago I met you
I didn't know at the time
You would be my best friend
More than a regular canine
You would shake both paws
And could speak or whisper
You loved to go swimming
I swear you were like flipper
You had tonnes of tennis balls
And bones of all shapes and sizes
Random stuffed toys ripped apart
Watching you chew was priceless
Blankets on the clothesline
Were your favourite thing
Pulling them down to lay on
Calmly thinking it was nothing
Chasing trains and motorcycles
Along the fence you would run
Hoping you would catch one
Making you proud to have won
You adored all other dogs too
You wanted to make friends
Never hostile with other ones
For that I greatly commend
Memories of you will last eternally
Kind , gentle and so friendly
The greatest buddy I've known
Like your name - Bear, my teddy
