Sadness is different than depression Sadness a part of every human and animal whereas, depression is not a part of every human and animal. Sadness is a basic emotion while, depression is a mental disorder. Sadness doesn't lead to fatigue whereas, depression leads to fatigue. Sadness is short term, depression is long term. Sadness may or may not lead to loss of appetite or increase in appetite and insomnia or hypersomnia whereas depression surely leads to loss of appetite and insomnia (in cases of atypical depression it leads to increased appetite and hypersomnia. Sadness doesn't bring any changes in the body weight , whereas depression leads to weight gain or weight loss Sadness might include suicidal ideations but in depression a person who might have suicidal ideation is at a higher risk of commiting suicide. -Ashmi Makhecha

I We are locked down Nobody is knocking now We are all isolated So some of us are even frustrated Right it is for us To save ourselves and others from the virus Life is at peace With no rush Economically some of us are melting Emotionally saddening Mentally we are stressing and Physically we are all resting It’s a question of life and death Let’s just not sit and guess When is this corona virus going to come to the climax Let us all just sit back and relax And try keeping away ourselves from panic attacks Let us all sit with our loving family members and have some snacks Everything that starts has to come to an end So for few days let us not shake hands And maintain distance while we stand Let us all understand And give our best to let this pandemic come to an end -Ashmi Makhecha Clinical psychologist and counselor
